1. The person at Imperial who'd be my direct supervisor sent me an e-mail asking if I was still intending to apply, because she and the group head are very keen, and by the way would I like to apply for this very generous scholarship the university is offering to up to 50 incoming PhD students because if so she'd get right on writing me "a strong recommendation letter." I - have I already talked here about how awesome the Imperial lot are? If not, I should, but that can wait until after hand-in.

2. My Director of Studies has cheerfully e-mailed to say that my report so far is basically fine, with a few suggested tweaks (but really not many), and an offer to read over any changes I make & want her to provided I get them to her before 4am... and if I don't want her to, I should still let her know if I'd like anything from Germany as a vanquished-the-project treat.

3. Said DoS is also being very enthusiastic about how enthusiastic project supervisor is being about the work.
