Many years ago, I remember going to a one-off planetarium show which included a song called "The Astronomer's Lament", of which I can remember nearly all of the refrain:

I never see stars, even when it's clear,
I only see [a bit I forgot] and paper up to here.
I never see stars, any size or shape,
I only see computers and a million miles of tape.
I see cars, bars, lots of seminars,
I see the bloody freeways, but I never see the stars!
