kaberett- FIVE baby coots!!! (and five more eggs good grief)
- was briefly very confused about what some of the seedlings in my predominantly-garlic bed were. it eventually dawned upon me that they were brassica-shaped, with interesting colours on the edges of their leaves, and as such they might be the 'blue' kohlrabi I'd deliberately sown (but not until I encountered Several Of Them in an obvious row). in my defence: someone has been Digging in that bed, which has caused much derangement, and therefore the first one I found was extremely isolated and not where I'd expected.
- the tiny surviving oca sprouts that had spent over a year in the fridge aren't dead! I put them in a bed a few days ago and they are Bravely Poking Their Heads Out.
- will I regret putting a row of garlic chives in this year's allium bed? possibly! but if they actually establish then I will dig up the rhizome and divide it and relocate it somewhere more useful.
- Admin: the LRP acquired a permanent site (as opposed to renting part of a working sheep farm/campsite) late last year. We'll be moving to it in 2026, if all goes not utterly disastrously. The reason I am saying this now is that last night was a parish council meeting where the organisation actually went "yeah hi so we're your new neighbours, we would like to make this a mutually beneficial relationship, what are your concerns and what can we do for you?" and it all apparently went about as incredibly positively as could possibly be hoped for, And Therefore I am now at liberty to announce: it's in Cambridgeshire!!! I am very excited!!!!! I might be about (FSVO) to start showing up in town for dinner four Tuesdays a year??? (How has this become a load-bearing hobby. What. What even.)
